Exercise is the number one aspect of life that doctors will tell you to add when trying to lose fat. Short periods of cardiovascular activity several times a week will burn body fat more effectively than an extended workout once a week.

While many people despise even the thought of traditional exercise, there are methods of burning calories and losing fat that are fun and effective for the body fat burning process.

  • Take for example, exercise include the larger muscles groups such as chest, back muscles and legs into the workout. By concentrating on the bigger muscles your body burns more calories and you increase the fat burning benefits of the exercise, without having to train longer.
  • Studies have shown that as little as three 10-minute walks each day will improve fitness and boost metabolism and working out in the morning has been shown to burn up to 3x as more fat as opposed to working out.
  • The key to lose weight is to eat the right types of fat and under-eat fats that the body needs.  And eat more often – five or six times or more per day – can help stabilize blood sugar levels and help your body to produce less insulin. Remember less insulin means more fat-burning.
  • Studies show that taking between 3-6 grams of CLA daily can help decrease body fat and possibly increase strength and muscle mass. Fish and flax seed oil, rich in omega three fatty acids, help decrease body fat by improving hormonal function, increasing metabolic activity, and decreasing water weight. By eating more non-fry fish a few times a week you can supply your body with these types of fats.
  • Fruits rich in vitamin C like limes, lemons, oranges, grapefruit and tangerines have fat burning properties. It you eat these fat burning foods and do some exercise, it will boost your metabolism and burn calories at a faster rate for several hours even after exercise.
  • And as you probably know fruit is great for cleansing the body since it contains lots of fiber, water, and vitamins.  By increasing your daily dietary fiber you can help your intestines work to there best ability and prevent food and waste products from building up inside. And one of the benefits of fruit is it comes in its own neat little natural packages which make it easy to pack and you can eat it anywhere.

Finally, when you want your body to burn more fat don’t overdo your exercise or diet when you first begin. Start slowly and increase gradually, this way you can maintain it over a longer period of time rather than going gung-ho for a few days and not being able to keep at it.

Are You Exercising And Still Getting Fatter?

Are you exercising and still getting fatterSounds like a contradiction, how could anyone exercise and still be putting on weight?

But, this is what is happening to most people who exercise, rather than exercise giving them the body they want its taking them in the wrong direction. All those hours of slogging it out on the treadmill or stationary cycle machine have been a total waste of time.

Why?

Its seems that not only do we need to exercise to get in better shape we also need to work on the kinds of food we eat after exercise as well. New research suggests that the link between exercise and weight loss is overstated and if you want to lose weight successfully you need to take a look at your diet first.

The reason they give for the lack of success when losing weight with exercise is that we fail for these 2 reasons.

  1. We treat ourselves with our favorite snacks as a treat for all that “hard work” we did when we exercised. Thus undoing all the calories we burned off in the first place. leaving us either back at the same daily calorie intake as before or over that amount because of those little treats.
  2. We don’t realize the calories contained in food and think we can eat more than we really should. For example to burn off a small packed of raisins (120 calories) we need to do aerobics for 20 minutes.

Now honestly how many of use have treated ourselves to a small packet of raisins as a treat, be honest its usually a slice of our favorite pie or some “Ben & Jerrys” ice cream.

Now consider how many minutes of exercise its going to take to burn off that!

While the type of food you eat can make a difference to your waistline, the type of exercise you do can also make a big difference.

While the old thinking has been that you need to do hours and hours of boring cardio to get in shape. The best types of exercise for fat burning are the type where muscle growth is stimulated and some muscles mass is built.

This then goes on to burn calories for hours or days later after the session has ended rather than the sharp decline in fat burning that happens after doing some cardio workouts, for example jogging or running.

So the morale of the story is, if you’re going to treat yourself after your next exercise session, make sure that you treat yourself with a non food type of treat which isn’t going to undo all the good work you’ve done.
