7 fun ways to burn calories1 – Play tag – Challenge your kids to a game of tag, it could be in the park or the back garden. You might all be puffing and panting by the end but you’ll have a smile on your face.

2 – Challenge A Friend  – Everybody likes a bit of a competition now and again, so why not challenge a buddy to a game of tennis, football etc. You’ll be surprised how hard you push yourself without giving it much thought. Or if you want why not challenge others at work you could all wear pedometers and see who walks the furthest in the week.

3 – Put On Some Tunes – Whether you’re out for a walk or just cleaning up the house. Put on your radio or iPod and get moving. If you’re out walking/jogging start off with some slow songs and then move up to some high tempo tunes to get your pulse up and quicken your step.

4 – Get Out Your Hula Hoop – Remember all those hours you used to spend, just you and a hula hoop. You may be surprised how it helps to tone up your waist muscles and burn calories.

5 – Wrestle Your Dog – Owning a dog is like having the world’s best training partner always on call 24 hours per day.  They hardly ever say no to some from of exercise. So get out it your back garden and wrestle with your dog or if you have the time take it for a walk. If this doesn’t help to lighten your mood and get rid of some of that stress then nothing can.

6 –Water Aerobics  – Water aerobics is usually, being held in a swimming pool near you so not sign up for a few sessions. It’s great fun and also a chance to meet other people.

7 – Cycle – If jogging isn’t for you, why not strap on your cycling helmet and enjoy a cycle. You’ll be surprised how far you can travel and wonder why you haven’t done this in a long time. If you want more of a challenge, try to pick out a route with some incline this will not only burn fat but also tone up your legs.

There are many more fun ways you could find to burn calories that don’t cost a dime, just use your imagination and get involved more with your kids. It could even be as simple a water balloon fight.

And for those of you that say they haven’t the time, ask yourself how many hours do you spend every week watching TV? You may surprise yourself with the answer; even using a fraction of that time will make a great difference to your health and waistline.
