Are You Really Getting Enough Exercise?
You may think that you’re doing the required amount of exercise per week but are you really?
In a recent study of women with children under 6, found that although the mums thought they exercised enough by chasing after their kids were still way short of their required daily exercise.
The survey revealed that only about a third of the mums got an average of 30 minutes or more per day. Yet overall most of the women thought that they were getting upwards of an hour of activity daily.
So how can you be sure you’re getting enough exercise per day?
A simple way is to purchase a pedometer which measures how many steps you take each day. You clip this small device onto your hip as you go about your day and try to hit your target which is usually 10,000 steps per day.
Or
Make time to go to your local pool or gym. Being a busy mom it can be hard to find time in your day to exercise, but there are times you need to put yourself first. Remember the healthier the parent you are the more you can give to your children and can prevent up the build up of stress.
If you can’t find a local gym/pool with a crèche facility you could team up with other moms in your area and baby sit for each other, or exercise together. Sometimes exercising can be a lonely activity and by teaming up with others it can make it more fun and help with your motivation.
If you a small baby in a stroller you can use this to your advantage for your fat burning sessions, work out a route where the majority of walking will be done up hill. This can increase the amount of calories you have to do and help tone up any sagging legs and butt muscles.
