How to have a healthier halloweenWhile Halloween is a time for getting the candy and goodies out for the kids don’t fall into the temptation of tucking in too much yourself.

Here are a few tips so Halloween doesn’t present some nasty surprises for you on the weighing scales.

1 – Rather than just relying on candy and sugary foods for parties and treats, use fruit as well. You can cut it up into weird and wonderful shapes and give them a creepy theme.

2 – If you are buying large amount of candy for trick or treaters, buy candy that you don’t have a big attraction to. If you’re a chocoholic stay away from chocolate and buy jelly or gummy sweets instead.

3 – When the party and trick or treaters are gone get all the unused food and goodies out asap, either give them to a neighbor or toss them in the trash.

4 – While most of link candy with Halloween why not give out non food treats to any children who come calling, for example plastic spiders, stickers or bubbles for the smaller kids.

5 – If you plan on eating out at a buffet, eat something before you go. Don’t skip a meal and plan on chowing down at the buffet.

6 – If you are going to a house party with finger food, try to avoid staying too close to the food. Your motto should be “Get in, get your food, and get out!” Staying too close to tempting nibbles only leads you to keep dipping in over and over again sometimes unnoticed by your self.

7 – And also slow down and taste your food, if you’re afraid of eating too much at a party take your time and eat very slowly. Its better for your digestion plus it gives your stomach plenty of time to register that its full.

Got any more tips you’d like to add, I’d love to hear them…
