liposuction for new momsMom’s especially new moms with a new born baby can find it hard to get back in shape after pregnancy. With house work, taking care of other children plus feeling constantly tired the last thing they want/or have time to do is get back in shape. This is where liposuction may sounds like a gift from the God’s, go in fat and come out thin without all the effort or the sweat.

The reason liposuction has become more and more popular with new mums is because women nowadays are bombarded with images of celebrities, that suddenly go from pregnancy to pre pregnancy shape in a matter of days, rather than weeks or months that the rest of us mere mortals can do it in.

But, is liposuction really the right choice for you. While liposuction may sound a great idea for new mums, getting back into shape in a short amount of time, there are some draw backs.

  • Healthier eating isn’t reinforced – If you continue to eat badly after surgery weight gain will occur again and you’ll end up in the same situation as before. For example eating comfort foods like ice-cream, chocolate, etc.
  • Healing after surgery – While there are small risks with any surgery, liposuction can take up to 2 months to heal from.
  • Not all fat is removed – While liposuction may sound like a fantastic way to lose fat, it only can remove outer fat that’s under the skin. Fat that remains deeper in the body can’t be removed and it’s this fat which causes problems like heart disease etc.

While on paper, liposuction may sound like a great way for new mums to get there figure back, it can never make as much a difference as eating a healthier diet and taking up some form of exercise. This way healthier habits are formed which will benefit you in the longer term than the quick fix that liposuction can bring.
