Is Your Job Making You Fat?
Do you work night shift, chances are its not helping with you losing weight.
It seems that working nights has an effect on your hormone levels and can make you more liable to store belly fat.
It seems that working nights causes an increase insulin resistance, which makes it you more susceptible to storing body fat. Plus it also has an effect on the stress hormone cortisol which can lead to higher belly fat levels around your belly button area.
Although night shift worked probably isn’t the healthiest for your body as you’re working against its normal bio-rhythm’s there are some ways to reduce the build up of belly fat and insulin resistance.
1 - Before you fall asleep eats carbohydrates like rice, and then during your “waking” hours stick to eating only protein foods.
2 – Stay away from the vending machines. Its usually around these midnight hours that the canteen is closed and the only food choices you have is the high calorie, high sugar foods in vending machines. To avoid this bring your own lunch with you and pack it with healthier snacks like fruit, nuts, seed, etc.
3 – Start taking a good multi – vitamin and or antioxidant to keep your bodies vitamin levels topped up so you don’t get “run down.” Also some minerals and vitamins can help with fat burning and energy which is something you don’t want to be missing out on it you’re battling belly fat.
4 – A natural way to combat insulin resistance is to take up some form of weight/strength training, the added muscle helps to combat this. Plus it also raises your metabolism/fat burning which like the last tip is something you don’t want to lose out on.
