Are You Eating Your Way Out Of The Recession?

Are you eating your way out of the recessionWith all the talks about job losing and companies scaling down, you’d rightly assume that supermarkets and fast food restaurants would also be hit hard.

But the opposite seems to be true!

The isn’t a week now that goes buy where supermarket profits margins aren’t announced or new expansion ideas are revealed.

But why it that? Could all this talk of doom and gloom be leading us to the biscuit tin? Are we simply comfort eating?

Have we decided “O.k, I’m going to have to put off that new car for another couple of years but until them why don’t I treat myself now to ………………(you can fill in blank with whatever your favorite food is).

This new way of recession thinking is making more and more of us going back to the basics. All the non essentials that we used to buy into aren’t available to us anymore, so we’re cutting back and looking for others ways to make our lives feel that little bit rosier.

The problem with this type of thinking is, that while the rush you get from your favorite food will make you feel better for a short while. It can never make your life any rosier (no matter what the advertisers would like you to think).

Is Your Partner Making You Fat?

is your partner making you fatAlthough we previously wrote an article on the how friends can affect your weight, I wonder have you considered how your spouse (or life partner) also may have an effect on your waistline.

Researchers have noticed a trend in obesity they call “Spousal Concordance” or in other words, “he’s fat and she’s fat.” And a recent study has backed up this finding who found that couples who live together more than 2 years were more likely to be obese.

Two of main reasons for this problem are…

  • Both partners eating the same meals which be unhealthy, or eating out more often socially
  • Less concerned about their appearance because they have a mate

If you find yourself in this situation, you could also have the perfect weight loss partner living with you?

  • Try shopping for healthier foods, and ditch all the fattening foods in your kitchen
  • Go out walking together, it doesn’t have to be in the neighborhood, go to the country side, beach or anywhere. It might even be “romantic.”

Why not work together, the improvements in weight loss and better health could bring you closer together as a couple, and you might even find some ways to burn off that added energy.
